Doughty Street International moves to new office in The Hague

On the 1st of September 2016, Doughty Street International moved to a new office in the centre of The Hague. The office is located in the Bertha von Suttner Building on Laan van Meerdervoort 70 where many international NGOs and organisations are based.

Overlooking the Peace Palace, which is home to the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the DSI office provides support facilities for members of Doughty Street with practices in The Hague. A member of staff is also permanently based there.

Head of Doughty Street International, Steven Powles, comments, “Doughty Street International continues to mourn the loss of our dear colleague John Jones QC. John was the first head and founder of DSI, his enormous contribution to our work and the development of international law will be greatly missed. Under the leadership of John, DSI was the first UK chambers to open an office in The Hague in the summer of 2014. It has proved an incredibly useful resource for many of our international practitioners and experts, either permanently based in The Hague or when appearing before the city’s many international courts and tribunals. Members of DSI have also been fortunate to participate in many of the numerous international conferences held in The Hague. We are also extremely pleased to be continuing our ongoing relationship with the prestigious Hague Institute for Global Justice. The next in our lecture series is taking place at the Institute on 5 October 2016.”
